Grants

Grant Foundations - support a variety of community-based projects, including environmental initiatives across the globe. There are literally thousands of such trusts and foundations throughout the world, each with specific grant criteria and application processes that need to be adhered to. Clean Up the World's Grants Register can assist you identify an appropriate organisation to approach. Once you have identified foundations that might support your project or event, contact them directly to request a grant application.

Basic Steps to assist your group/organisation to assess potential funding sources most suitable for your group or organisation:

1. Be clear about the purpose and objectives of your group/organisation and identify potential grant making bodies to match these i.e. what are you searching for a grant for?
2. How much funding are you searching for?
3. What regions are you focused upon i.e. Africa, Latin America etc.
4. Consider the length of the grant application process and how this fits in with your project plans.
5. Once an initial selection has been made obtain the grant application and guidelines and determine whether your group/organisation and intended project match the criteria. Consider:

a. What will be funded?
b. What will not be funded?
c. What are the eligibility criteria?
d. What are the grant conditions?
e. Whom can you contact for advice?
f. When is the grant application due?
g. Planning for reporting back to grant organisation

NOTE: Each organisation has its own grant criteria and application processes that must be adhered to. Contact the organisation directly to request grant application details. Clean Up the World cannot guarantee that Members' projects will meet criteria set by each/any organisation.
