DAVID DE ROTHSCHILD - INTERVIEW

David de Rothschild, adventurer, environmentalist and founder of Adventure Ecology.

1. What do you consider to be the most important environment issues facing the planet?
We are running out of room! With an ever increasing global population and a faster than expected changing climate we are not only compounding the stresses on our natural resources but we are soon going to be witnessing the largest displacement of individuals ever seen in the history of humanity. Without some serious thought and planning for this occurrence the consequences will be devastating for the human and natural ecology of our planet.

2. What sort of action do you believe needs to occur to address these issues?
We need to rethink our relationship with nature and its resources. The time has come to shake off old habits and start encouraging intelligent design and efficiency throughout our everyday systems, the opportunity to create planet 2.0 is now!

3. How important a role do you believe the community plays in repairing or improving the environment?
Nobody is as cleaver as everybody. It only takes one person to start a movement but systemic change requires the depth, reach and commitment that a community creates! There really is nothing more powerful.

4. What do you hope to achieve or contribute towards by being involved with Clean Up the World as an Ambassador?
In my role as a Clean Up the World ambassador I not only hope to help bring the Clean Up the World messages and actions to a wider audience but I am excited about playing a role in a global community that has real heritage and reach within the field of environmental action.
